"Our New Camera Is Here!"

And here is one of the first pictures I took!! If you're wondering how I got the beer bottle in Dad's hand...well...a magician never reveals his secrets!

Cari and I had a very nice Saturday night! First we went to Sam's to get our new camera, a Casio 6MP and the smallest thing you've ever seen! Being around uncle Dean (who is a camera nut-I mean buff lol) and his microwave-sized cameras I was convinced we needed something massive to take good pictures, but this one takes pretty good pics as well. So far we've snapped up trivial things...like the kids lol...

Then we went to church so we didn't have to go to the Sunday morning service. Isn't that bad when we feel like we "have to" go to church? Truth is, I can mouth Father Tom's entire service since it's the same thing every week. Gets old sometimes. When you don't feel like going but you think if you don't something bad will happen something's not right. Sure I'm scoring points with God though!

Then we went to the Studio Movie Grill for dinner and a show. Dinner was actually very good! Shared a hamburger and a quesadilla. Saw "Dead Silence" while we ate. Seen this yet? VERY creepy! Basically, this ventriloquist's dummy "Billy" shows up at this couple's house unannounced, the next day the wife is dead via her tongue being ripped out of her. Turns out the guy's great uncle was involved in murdering this ventriloquist Mary Shaw years and years ago. She had 101 dolls and insisted on being buried with them. I dunno...you'd have to watch the whole movie to be up to speed. But man, it was intense. Ghosts and stuff will do that to ya ha ha.

THEN...we went to my fave Starbuck's. They have this cinnamon dolce frappacino that was to die for! Too bad it's "for a limited time only". Ack! Will have to get another one of these days. Then we came home and went to bed. Not that we don't like the kids...heck, we may even love them...but it's essential for us to be to ourselves every now and then.

For some reason these pics are not coming up...weren't anything special...(sigh) I think I will make some more in the near future, but I need some inspiration first. What inspires you?

"More Photo Fun"

Okay, so I made the ice cream truck a little too big. But the StarBuck's looks great yes? The boat required a lot of intricate editing so it could have looked better but it sure does grate on my nerves. So why do I do it? Because I still DO NOT HAVE MY CAMERA! We "may" get one Saturday, but it's just talk right now. Someday...someday...

We are going to be kid-less this weekend! Little big sister Keri is taking Emmy to see some kind of Disney show on ice at the American Airlines Center and mom will be watching the boy...Zach I think his name is lol. Kidding...couldn't forget his name if I tried. So far we are going to the new Highlands storefront they built and go to the Movie Tavern for lunch and a show. Yes, we get to have lunch as we're watching the movie! It's a groundbreaking idea that's only been around for 75 years or so ha ha.

Got a raise at work! Goes into effect April 8. How much was it? 5%. No more. Ah well, it's a start right? This will come in handy as we need to make plans for Emmy for her summer vacation. There are a lot of summer programs that she will love and so far the cheapest one seems to be $50 a week, which the raise should cover.

I really wish one of us could stay home with her for the summer...sometimes we don't get what we want. Heck, 90% of the time we don't get what we want! But if we spend our days and nights thinking about what we don't have we'll die an early death since envy and jealousy are spiritual cancers on our minds. It seems like once we get things right down here, it's time to go to the great beyond. For a while I kept thinking that I was wasting my 30's and would look back on them with regret when I'm 70 or 80. But then I thought that by the time I make it there I will be happy with whatever came out of my life since it will have taken so long to get there.

This is something funny I found goofin' around...might be PG-13 lol.

"Income Tax Return is HERE!"

Finally! A whopping $2,800 just arrived into our sometimes pitiful bank account this morning! Which means by this time next Monday I will be one fancypants camera richer! Lately I have been finding it hard to write about things without my own original pictures accompanying them. Plus, I feel bad that a lot of my kids' growth and development is not being captured for posterity. But no more!

Emily spent the night with my grandparents, her great-grandparents last night. I am so glad she doesn't throw a fit when we ask her if she wants to stay there. In fact, she enjoys spending time with them. This means more to me then she will ever know. I hope Zach gets some quality time in there as well. I know he and grandpa would have a lot in common...what exactly I don't know lol.

I have accumulated quite a number of new toys since last July and hopefully I will get them on here in the coming weeks. In the meantime, here are some pics from around the 'Net of some of my favourite things: spiders!

Camel Spider

Brown Recluse Spider

Black Widow Spider

Why did I mention spiders? Because when I was a kid I actually came face to face with a brown recluse spider on my right calf. I swatted it away before it could do anything but there is still a small scar on my leg from where it almost bit me. Why would God put things like this on our planet anyway? I'm sure there is a very good reason but darned if I know. I know when I get to Heaven there will be miles and miles of file cabinets containing explanations of everything that has ever happened. Which is good 'cuz I got a lot of questions! None come to mind right now other then the spider thing though.

"Are Things Back To Normal?"

Mmm, probably not. But at least I'm slowly learning the tricks and tribulations of how to post again on this thing. Every now and then the edit toolbar comes back and I have to take advantage of it because if it's not there the body of the post will not stick. Lovely thing you've done here Blogger. All in the name of free enterprise eh?

Like the picture? I had a little fun cutting and pasting. This is a picture I took of the Japanese gardens in Fort Worth plus a fishing boat added. Believe it or not I had to search long and hard for a picture of a simple boat. In the end, this was the best I could come up with.

What's new lately? Let's see...Emmy started soccer couple weeks ago...last Sunday we went to the botanical gardens with Branda/Jerramy/Camron/Carson. We had a great afternoon. Zach got to learn how to go up and down steps! That's all he wanted to do. Emmy was about 2 1/2 before she was interested in things...it's hard right now waiting for Zach to reach that point. Doesn't mean he isn't fun to be around though.

Supposed to be getting our tax return in the next 7 days. Then it's new camera!! Just when I get into DP (digital photography) it's taken away from me. But our new camera will be better then ever.

That interview I went to didn't come through. Ah well. Win some, lose some right? The truth is, as much as I wanted it, if I had gotten it I would have had to change my morning routine entirely and to be honest I'm not sure I would have been able to pull it off. I will leave these things up to God and only worry about things I can control. What it's all about I guess.

It's VERY cloudy right now...I sure hope it rains. I love rain. I'm off Thursday and Emily and her cousin Ethan and I shall do something big...find out Friday.
