"The Broom And The Rug"

Not a lot going on this week, so I thought I would try my hand at a little free-form poetry. Lemme know what you think. Just try to not be so brutal lol:

I am an unstoppable force. Everyone who has tried to defeat me has fallen by my hand. I have preserved many great things and many horrible things. I have accomplished all of this without even trying. All I have to do is exist. I am comprised of a commodity more precious then gold and worth more then anything else in the entire world. I allow people to spend what I have on anything they want. Some will spend wisely, but most will spend poorly. What amuses me is they won't even know how much they have wasted until they are on their deathbed.

I'm not all bad though. There are some redeeming aspects to me. I will allow you to do something humiliating and just sit there and laugh, but afterwards I will remove all traces from everyone's mind so that they never knew what had happened. I can also make people forgive you for something you have done that was wrong. Just don't expect it in one day.

I am the broom and the rug. I sweep away the past to make way for the future.

I am omnipotent.
I am never-ending.
I am time.

Not bad eh? Maybe I can get that published somewhere.

And here is proof that old habits die hard. Made this at work which took forever since I lost this twice! Find the two things wrong anyone?

And what entry would be complete without a visit from Dr. Smoov!! This is by far the funniest re-dub of Transformers I have ever heard.

I got to thinking about things and realized the clock is ticking for all of us. Every day shall be one for the books. Maybe age is just a number after all. I read about a man who was still teaching a class at the age of 100. He looked just as spry as a man half his age. Maybe I'll be like that one day. I won't worry about getting old until I turn 100. Once I pass that mark then I'll start worrying about if I've done enough in my life. For now, I'm 32 and have some fun things to look forward to.

"Stars Win! Stars Win!!!"

Well, they haven't "won" anything yet. But they did win game five of the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. And when you're down three games to one, it's a mighty big deal! It's a shame that as you get older, the adage "It's not important if you win or lose, it's how you play the game" seems to go away and nothing seems as much fun as it used to be.

Went to Brand and Jerrany's wedding last Saturday. Was actually very nice. Here's a few pics to re-create the mood:

This one is...just a bit awkward...you really had to be there to understand. Actually, the people that WERE there didn't understand.

Me: "Hey! Wake you you lazy moochers! It's only an hour drive!"

Yesterday I went up to Emmy's school to help with "stations" and have lunch. I tell ya...sometimes I get onto her when she acts a little silly, say in church, but compared to some of these kids, she's an angel. Here's a few pics to help re-create the mood:

Me: "What on earth? When did you get a baby chick?"
Emmy: "When the egg hatched, silly!"
Me: "Well...ask a stupid question..."

Here's Emmy with all her friends...let's see, there's what's-her-name...and whoosits..."

Zach: "Hey Dad, would you like to help me build something with these great tools?"
Me: "Um...something you should know about those son...they cost $2.50 at Target."
Zach: "Hey, I'm one, what do I care?"
Me: "Touche`"

This is my Mexican heather plant which I have been nourishing with love...and some fertilizer. In about 2 months you will see lots of pretty purple flowers blossoming. Wait a minute...this isn't fertilizer...it's Nerds candy! No wonder that plant shakes uncontrollably every now and then.

I have a toy site again! Find Speed Racer on the left to see every toy I own, opened or unopened. You may be pleasantly surprised to see which outnumbers which.

"It's Friday The 13th!"

And man, what a morning! Very dark, very ominous...with a hint of sprinkles. And I'm not talking about the ones you find on a doughnut. Although, how cool would that be if just for one day, it rained all your favourite treats? For me, I would pick Mrs. Baird's apple pies. Been eating them all my life and still have yet to get tired of them. Out of the wrapper or warmed up with some ice cream, it's all good.

Notice anything different? I think a safe bet would be to say I'm more then a little obsessed with Batman right now. I'm very proud of what I've done however. Even though work has been off the hook right now (very busy) I somehow found time for the important things lol.

So Larry's the father eh? Man, that poor kid. Not too many kids can find out just how famous they are (or were) just by turning on CNN...or Extra!.

A busy week! Let's let the pictures tell the tale:

Ye Olde Easter bunny came by our neighborhood Sunday! Zach and Emmy got some good things like candy, clothes...and money!? How come no one ever gives ol' Mikey any money? Oh yeah...I'm 32.

Wednesday night was Emmy's soccer "banquet" at Mama's Pizza. Not sure if there are anymore out there but man they sure are good. Everyone got a trophy and the coaches got medals. How come no one ever gives ol' Mikey a medal? Oh yeah...I had nothing to do with the team lol. But I did help Emmy practice a few times.

Tuesday night we went to the Ranger game! Someone at work gave me two free tickets so of course I had to use them. Too bad "free" means:

$12 for parking
$4 for lemonade
$4 for popcorn

Would ya look at the size of that "coffee slurpee"!!?? I tell ya...if I had one that size...would probably be enough to satisfy my addiction for a few days...or 15 lifetimes lol

Me: "Hey Emmy, can I have some of that popcorn?"
Emmy: "Gee, I don't know Dad...there's not really that much left."

In case ya didn't know, the bluebonnet is the official state flower of Texas! Turns out a house around the corner from us has them growing wild in his yard, so on the way home from the soccer "banquet", I snapped a few shots, including this close-up, which looks pretty darn good if you ask me. And you did ask me...right?

I won a $20 gift card from work for being such a darn good worker! First time for everything, right? ha ha. Guess where I got it from...I'll give you a hint...rhymes with "Noise Are Us". That's probably giving it away lol.

Our friends Jerramy and Branda are getting married tomorrow. I hope their "civil union ceremony" (j/k) will be frought with love and happiness for years to come. Marriage is hard work isn't it? Especially if you're in Hollywood where temptation is around the corner...some corners sleazier then others, but that's neither here nor there. for me, the hardest part of being married is not to think about being with other people. And I admit, sometimes I wonder about that. But surely I can't be alone in this, right? But then I kind of come back to Earth and tell myself, there's always going to be someone else. Always. Temptation never goes away. We just have to ask ourselves is it worth it? No. Never. Now I know in this world people get divorced as often as they get married. That's an awful ratio, but a realistic one nonetheless. "Vows" and "sanctity" seem to get used really loosely, but they mean something to me. Anyone remember "Beverly Hills, 90210" when Valerie was fooling around with Kenny, the married lawyer, and when he wouldn't leave his wife she lied and said she was pregnant, then wanted $100,000 to have an "abortion"? That's horrible! I know it's just TV, but this kind of thing goes on all the time. All I can do is live my life working each day to insure our family doesn't fall apart. Marriages are a lot like bluebonnets...they're here for a while, then they're gone literally overnight. But the ones who have God in their life last forever...and I do mean forever.

P.S. I got some new toys that I will get on here soon...thinking of re-starting my toy site again.

"What's Wrong With This Picture?"

There are three things that do not appear to be right in this picture. If I could offer fabulous prizes, I would, but seeing as I can't, maybe I can offer you some of my MP3's. The answer a little bit later.

After much discussion about what time I need to request off during Emily's summer break to offset daycare costs, I have decided on the week of...July 4th! Such a no-brainer. Now all I have to do is come up with an itinerary...a schedule if you will...of things for the three of us to do. What I really want to do is incorporate learning into these activities so Emmy doesn't show up on the first day of school and say "Well gollee, I sure did forgot what I learned ya'll!" (shudders) The horror. Anyways, I figure one day we can go to a park and identify different types of flowers and plants and probably insects since we all know THEY'LL be out there. Another day we might be able to go to the library and get an exciting book and take a trip in our minds or something. I'm thinking "Swiss Family Robinson" or "Lost: The Book" if it comes out soon, and we all hope that it will.

Here are some pics I took with my new camera here, there, and everywhere (i.e. the mall):

Yes, that is Emmy in her soccer uniform playing her heart out! I think a big part of kid's sports is knowing when to let the kid play and when to push her to play right. When she first started she didn't always know where to be or what to do. But she practiced. So much in fact that that's all she wants to do now is play soccer with someone...anyone...because she has worked at it and she knows a lot more about the game. Could not be prouder of her.

Now Zach, on the other hand...is he the next Emeril or the next Rachael Ray? Hmm...actually, he's quite adept at helping in the kitchen! Kid isn't even two yet and he knows how to run the dishwasher. I had finished loading it when he comes around, out of nowhere, and closes the door, locks it, and if his hands were a little stronger he would have turned the dial that starts the rinse cycle! He's such a dynamo when it comes to things like that. I only hope I can keep him encouraged and on the right path.

What is the right path? Heck if I know. Heck if anyone knows right? Right now I have it in my head that we will be close and he will want to share things with me and ask me for advice when things aren't going his way. But then I think it will be the opposite and he would rather be doing something else then hanging out with me. I know kids eventually turn into teenagers and don't want to be seen with you...ever...but maybe Zach and Emmy can be the exceptions to the rule. Maybe we will be close and they might actually want to tell me if something is bothering them. All I can do is keep telling them I love them and always being available if they want to talk to me.

Okay, now it's time to see if you got the three things that were wrong with this picture:

1. The pH balance in the soil around the pond was measured at a 6.5, which is below the recommended 6.8 balance.
2. The concrete in the bridge blocks was comprised of structural concrete when it should have been made of reinforced concrete.
3. The big rock in front is made of three parts sedimentary rock and one part liemstone and will erode much quicker then one that is made up of seven parts igneous rock with a one part quartz mixed in.
